Newer Comand Disk
I have not found a concensus if the newer 2004 or 2005 disks for the Comand 2.0 (DX) Include more detailed map data or not? Also does anyone know if MB is going to release a newer update CD beyong MY01.

Here is the answer to my question, I am posting here so that anyone in the future who does searches can hopefully benefit.
I compared the 2000 and 2002 CD's for region 6 in Nashville. Almost all of the main county of Nashville was mapped but the surrounding counties (Where half of Nashville residents live) were only mapped with minimal detail such as main roads.
I got the 2005 Region 6 CD and I must say, WOW. My entire county is now mapped. There is so much more detail now then with 2000 and 2002. Also as an added surprise the entire Countries main highways are now mapped and on the CD. So now I can map from Nashville into any other city in the US and it will use only region 6 cd to get me to there using main highways and state roads, if I want greater detail I would have to get the CD for that region, but at least the main region will serve the entire US using the main highways.

Nav cd software update
For the older systems, make sure you have the latest nav data software update from your Benz dealer. Even with the 1/05 discs, it won't give you the full route list or other details, unless your software is updated. I have a 2002 S class, with the original software. Until I got a software update, the new discs weren't that much better. As stated above, with one regional disc, you can now plan a route anywhere in the US and get time, distance, and a route list. Almost as good as a DVD, but with less detail, after you leave your region.

route guidance across the country was first availabe with 01/04 as for what's new in 05 i think depends on where you live, i know that on the west side of cleveland, there is a lot missing for 01/04 but i have no idea if it has been updated for 05, also, as for the software update of COMAND i was always under the assumption that newer discs would update your COMAND for you to the newer software because that's what it seemed to do when i got the 01/04 discs, but after reading jimbo's post i'm not sure anymore, anyone got an answer to this?
also, does anyone know where we can check to see if our section of the country has been updated with the new 05 discs?

I just checked my Euro command and found that I do infact have those features. I don't know if they came as part of my 1/05 disk or not, but I have the route list, distance, and ability to plan a multi-region trip.
