Remove the battery and see if there is a SIM slot on, if not, it's CDMA phone and you'd need Verizon service. Or get a Mikbox and use with more choice of phones.

??? A 2003 car with an original V60 will definitely not support GSM, so there will be no SIM slot. It will be either TDMA or CDMA... there are various ways to tell them apart (I think I and others posted some here before).

Okay, for the OP, just turn on your phone and see what is say who is your provider then. If it says Verizon, then it's CDMA otherwise, TDMA.

Humm, I just tried one of mine... it doesn't say Verizon when I turn it on. But it is definitely CDMA. It could be because it is no longer connected to service. I think the older posts really outlined the best ways (via keypresses or checking hte model numbers).

Hey scorchie got a quick question. Would a v60x kit from a 2004 w211 work in a 2006 cls500? Just curious as I have the cradle and activated phone sitting here wasting away; lol.

Other CDMA companies I could think of are Alltell and Sprint. I don't know about the older phones. But my V710 shows a VZW logo when first power up then if not activated, just no service.

How to tell your provider

I have an AT&T Timeport phone that has no service. If I dial a number on the phone, I get an error message from the provider stating that it doesn't recognize the number and telling me to call 611. 611 gives me a message from Cingular. Try dialing 611 and you'll discover the service provider for the phone.

The phone will work! The rest of the kit won't... so that will save you $500. Oh, the compensator from your W211 should work too. But you'll need everything else in the CLS kit... PSE, antenna switch, some adapter cables, the contact plate, and the cradle. The CLS kit also comes with voice control so you need to pay for that as well.

Well if I have to buy everything over again anyways. Since I have the Euro comand and MHI the phone wont work 100%. Can't I get the phone kit from you and steve adn a Euro PSE and then everything will work properly, like call waiting, phone book and teleaid?

Hey, we have MHI kits that will work fine with Euro COMANDs. We just need to know the proper configuration to use beforehand so we bring the right (modified) parts. Just like we have UHI kits that work with US COMANDs. It's all a matter of compatibility.

So yeah, you can get the whole kit from us and it will work out OK. Just hang on to your phone.

Or, step up to the plate. You have real cars. Get a real mobile phone provider.

I like your idea, but then he would still need to get a real provider first... that phone doesn't work on Sprint!

I also have cingular/at&T gsm so I can use one of the phones you have on your list. I was just curious if I could use any unlocked gsm phone on your list, or do I need to get the special MB version? Let me know how much the GSM Euro kit is for my car, Ill just add that to my xenon + folding mirror installation; lol.

Any GSM phone on the UHI list will work; nothing special about them (except the V60i requires a firmware update). If you want MHI, you'll need a Mercedes-Benz specific phone (and different controller etc.)

Ask Wanda for pricing... hopefully she has it!
