Bluetooth

Does anyone know if MB will ever offer blutooth integration with the current phone system in the car? Or is there an after market solution out there that may possibly do this? I just hate having to use a system where I have to plug in my phone into a cradle..I end up forgetting it there.

Thanks

I don't think Benz has Bluetooth now. Don't know if they'd ever go for it. This way, you have to use the Benz phones. Unless you use Mikbox or change the setup everytime you get a new phone. There are a few bluetooth devices available. I personally use the Parrot kit to use with my Alpine unit. I don't know if such kit would work with the Command or not.

still BMW 5 Series - ML 2006 ordered
Just check http://www.lintech.de/english/index.html for information. The company is producing Bluetooth adapters as well for the aftermarket. You can install them to existing in-car handsfree phone systems and replace the phone docking station. I read they have two versions for a Mercedes phone system (FSE8 and FSE12 - what ever this means, I am not used to Mercedes codes). They announced during the CEBIT show this year a new adapter with SIM Access Profile. However, a nice lady on the phone said it will not be for the aftermarket. I understood they anyway are only delivering to whole salers.

In theory it would be a nice adapter to have: UHI/Bluetooth adapter for the current Mercedes phone system containing Bluetooth with Sim Access Profile - Just click it into the UHI connector in your Mercedes and gain full Bluetooth functionality, obviously fully integrated to Command APS, compatible with hopefully a lot of Bluetooth phones (... sorry just dreaming).
I am sure somebody will announce anything like this shortly.

www.mikbox.com might be your best bet but w/ a 2005 I'm not sure if it is compatible. If there is enough interest he was going to build a bluetooth version of his device which allows better phone selection w/ the MB phone system.

It works very well with my Alpine system and my V635. As soon as I started the car, it powered up and paired with my phone (with Bluetooth turned on)in less than 30 seconds. Phonebook also sync with it. If you have voice setup in your phonebook, you can turn the dial to voice and say the name you want to call. It muted the music when calls come in or out.

I assume your SL's audio has the mute feature for your amp phone. As long as it has a extra aux input, you're good to go. But installing is very time consuming. There's so many wires in the back. The beauty of Bluetooth carkit is you can use any Bluetooth phones. As long as you own the car, you can keep ugrading your phone. Hope this help.

holy crap that was a fast responce, thanks man for ur help , im not sure how exactly that i would install the adaptor i guess id just take my 90+ thou $ ride to circuit city and have them mess w/ it, or i could take it to like audiobahn, although this is really not important at this time. i really wanna know how much a parrot would run me ck3100. i know for a fact that the pos old phone did mute the radio when ever it started to dial out and returned sound when it finished to what ever u had b4 either be it cd or radio or tape and i do have the bose system which apparently i need some sort of adaptor ... help

Parrot CK3100 is $199 and free shipping from where I got it.

There is also a CK3000 without the display for less. Unless your local Circuit City guy has worked with many Benzo before, I'd be careful with who works on it. I took mine to the guy who installed the Alpine into my car.

Your factory audio system came with the phone so there has to be a mute wire in there. You just have to locate it. Most wires are color coded so it's easier to find but time consumming. I don't know if there is an extra aux upout behind the system. But a knowledgable audio tech should be able to hot wire it to a MB harness easily. My guy did that to work with the Alpine's harness. The Parrot unit goes to the back of your audio not the amp I believe. Good luck if you decide to go this route.
