SLK R171 - illuminated door sills

Hi,
I have a Sept 04 SLK r171 200k and live in Scotland.
I have recently purchased a set of Mercedes Benz illuminated door sills part number B66890084. (from EBAY!!)
Unfortunately the fitting instructions are missing.
I contacted the local MB service centre and they have advised it is a six hour job to fit these and the seats ,carpets etc require to be removed and the sills wired into the fuse box in the boot (trunk?). This is too expensive an option for me.
Can anyone:
1)confirm what MB are saying is correct?
2)let me know how I can obtain a copy of the fitting instructions? Are these on the internet anywhere? Or a paper or electronic copy?
3)advise of any shortcuts to prevent removal of the seats/carpets etc?
4)confirm where the fuse box is located in the trunk in a right hand drive car and whether specialist tools are required to open it?
5)confirm where the cables can be routed from the passenger compartment into the trunk?
6)confirm whether these in fact need to be wired into the trunk fuse box - there is apparently a fuse box in the cabin and another in the engine compartment? Could these be used?
Lots of questions I know but if I had a set of fitting instructions they may have answered some of these!
thanks
Vic
