JL Audio CleanSweep??????

I was wondering if anyone has had any experince with the cleansweep. This product should allow use to use our stock headunits and aftermarket amps/speakers without any loss in sound quality. Will this work on any mercedes??? Thanks.....

Most MBs with expanded sound systems, BOSE, HK (like yours), run of fiberoptics and the amps are multi channel. In order for this to work you would need to tap into the HU directly and thereby bypass the outboard amp. Remember that this writeup states 4 channel max. But if money is no object.........

This unit has not shipped from JL yet. I have heard it in JL's Escalade that had a Bose system and it sounded incredible. When it hits I could give more info, since we have several pre-sold for higher end cars, but I expect it to be the best aftermarket to factory set-up adapter out.

We have been using the Audio Control LC6 at our store with great success. Does everything it is supposed to. The JL Cleansweep & Audio Control LC6 were designed with Mercedes & Bmw in mind.

Leave the factory system in tact all the way to the amplifier. Do not go to the headunit and bypass the amplifier if there is one. The factory headunit in a Mercedes, especially COMAND wants to see the factory amp.Take the speaker leads from the factory amp (high Level) and put them into the LC6. From there you can build any system you want with low level outs (RCA's). The LC6 is basically a high end High / Low converter that does a great job. Used it in Honda's, Mercedes & BMW's with very good sound quality. I talked to my JL rep about the Cleansweep. He says it goes one step further by making up for the equalization in factory systems. Don't know how, haven't seen one yet. We will be sticking with Audio Control. Retail is $150. You will have all your factory steering wheel controls, navigation and speedometer display with any aftermarket system you want. For us, the LC6 has been the answer we have been waiting for.

Just talked to my installer about all this. Some cars he has had to put the LC6 before the factory amp and some after the factory amp. Since these are going in new cars, every install is an educated guess right now. You will need power, ground & remote for the LC6. You will want to put the LC6 in the same area as the aftermarket amps are going so it is not to long of a run with the RCA's. You will not need a balanced line driver this way and will maintain the sound quality we are all looking for. Sorry about the confusion between this post and the previous one.

Good Luck

^^^ I agree, the LC6 is an awesome peice, makes the New porsche system a breeeze to integrate. IMO the Cleensweep will be a great addition to a factory set up due to the 1/3 octave EQ built in and the ability to add plenty of toys to a factory system.

The sound shop I visited suggested an amp and Cleansweep to give me the sound boost I was looking for. Mind you, I wasn't interested in a total system reconstruction.

This sounds like a very good product. I wonder how much it could really improve the system in the bass range. I'm thinking the speakers/amps itself are limiting the amount of bass that I would like to hear.

appearntl jl has started shipping them sometime since the start of this thread, their website says so. no one has one yet tho, ive been searching and googling for days. im gonna go to the store this week and check it out. i'll probably be using one in my install.

What about going the other way? Changing out the head unit and keeping the rest of the system intact? I am looking to complete this in my 95 W140.

Anybody anve some detailed info?
