Radio code missing

Radio code missing
I disconnected the battery in my new (used) C43 today and the radio now needs the code. As I am not the original owner, I am missing the code. Went to the MB dealer with the car and VIN, looked up code: three tries later and I am locked out with the WAIT setting. Ten minutes of driving later and I try one more time; same result.
Now what??? Hope that I'm not looking at pulling the radio out.
Any suggestions?

Thanks, I did go back and they insist the code given me was the right one. In a little less than a friendly manner, I might add. I'm afraid that pulling the radio is now what I'm up against. ($$$???) or some thing easy to do myself? I'm pretty well versed on spinning a wrench or two.

Code Found!
Guess what, there it was, the radio code stuck between the pages of the quick reference guidebook. 
Was the right one too (not the one the dealer had on record). So demote me back to newbie and I thank you both for your input and help!
