water in trunk and front speakers out

hey guys,
i would appreciate some help with this issue i am having. everytime i wash the car, water leaks into the trunk and on to the fuse box. i found this out becuase after every wash, the speakers wont work for a while and then start working again. two days ago, i washed the car and when i turned the car on, the speakers started making all sorts of noises even though the radio was off, and then they went dead. later, i tried turning the radio on and found out that all the speakers were working except the ones in the front doors. i checked the fuses in the trunk and couldnt make out with ones were for the front speakers if there is a fuse for them. dont know how to diagnose this problem. does anyone have any ideas?

i would appreciate all the help i can get.
by the way, my car is a 2001 c240.

Water and whine

I've been having this same problem this winter. I've had some moisture in the trunk, but nothing more than what I'd call "sweating" after a rain - it didn't look like enough to cause a short or grounding problem.

Your situation has happened a half dozen times after a good rain, but just a car wash hasn't done it to me...yet. I came out one morning after a heavy rain to find my car whining in the parking lot all by itself. The only way I could get it to turn off was to pull the stereo fuse in the trunk. I dried the amp and fuse panel, but this time it took two weeks before I could put the fuse back in and hear music, without a loud, high-pitched whine. And even then, it had a random, low pitched noise that resembled thunder for another week or so. The way I got this to quit was to start unplugging each of the door speakers, until I found the rear passenger door to be the culprit. I plugged in another speaker and it worked okay, so I'm guessing that the amp is okay. Now I'm thinking maybe its a door window seal (or maybe all of the door seals) that is letting water run down on the enclosed speakers. The inside of the doors has always looked dry, but this has happened again since I've unplugged the one culprit. I don't want to just start buying and changing parts...

Any leads would be appreciated. Thank you, Rich
