Leaving IPOD in the car
I have been leaving in the car (Ashtray) all this time and haven't had any issues, I am just concerned about any issues in the long term..
- Operating temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
- Non operating temperature: -4° to 113° F (-20° to 45° C)
- Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
- Maximum operating altitude: 10,000 feet (3000 m)
I don't think the IPOD reaches a high temp when left in the ashtray even though the rest of the car is hot so I think I will leave it there.
Hot Tip
If you use your iPod or notebook in temperatures higher than its specified operating range, 95°F (or 35°C), you may permanently damage your battery’s capacity. I.e., your battery won’t power your device as long on any given charge. You may damage it even more if you charge the device in these temperatures. Even storing a battery in a hot environment can damage it irreversibly.
On any given day, I could start and stop the car for more than 10 times. Multiply that by 365 days......

My only concern about charging like that is that I notice if I leave it plugged into the charger for longer than it needs -- a few days if I forget about it -- I often get flickering garbage in the display for a while, until I've unplugged it and play music for a while. Not really the topic for this forum, but just another weird behavior of some of these older units Apple never really acknowledged had power issues.
