What type of enclosure is that you were using with your ID subs? Is that sealed with a false wall? By chance have a picture a little further back to see what all is going on? Looks pretty good. I am also trying to decide if I want to rear fire or up fire the sub.

It looks as though the front wall of that box goes all the way to the top of the trunk- fits snug on the top, bottom and sides of the trunk wall? I am thinking of doing a single sub in the middle with a false wall- and hiding the amps behind the wall- as not to be seen. Either that or doing a false floor with the sub firing up.

the box is put in there, then a front panel to make it look like that.

I see- a false wall- I like that. I was pondering somethining similar for my single sub. Sub in the middle and a flush mounted amp on each side. However I was worried that the false wall might cut down on the sound making it into the cabin (something I'm already worried about w/o having a false wall).

Thanks,

the older sl was a redo. On my site I have the before pictures located in the worst installs gallery, and of course the redo on the benz section. The only thing I added was a set of MB Quart speakers, (though they cheapened the line up and will no longer carry them) also took out one of the amps, and rebuilt a cover for the amp

The SL65 is dual 8" woofers and a set of JL Audio ZR componets. i know it states Quart but everything Rockford and Quart was removed.

The Phoenix Gold install was when Phoenix Gold used to be a real company, no longer use their gear either

That's how a lot of audio companies are. Their stuff used to be top notch- not so much any more. They all sold out to Best Buy'ish type stores.

They sold out to China, heard all the BS from them also... "to compete in the market place..."

So know if everything is China, we look at what is the best from them in a complete line. Jl Audio was our answer. So far we have a 0 for failure rate over the past few months. I would of expected at least a few things going bad with the other lines by now, but JL is keeping my clients happy and me!

For some reason I never have jumped on the JL bandwagon. Most likely because I like being different- not a huge fan of the mainstream stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with it- I just like to be outside the norm. JBL's flagship line is about the only mainstream brand/line I like. But even that you can't hardly find anywhere. Most places just have their "Power" line or "GTO" line. As far as packaged sets go- I like Rainbow, Dynaudio, and Diamond (Eaton). DIY type stuff- Morel, Seas, Scan-Speak. If I can stumble across some pre-DEI A/D/S/ stuff, amps or speakers- I will take that any day. Especially their amps- amazing SQ. A while back I picked up a new-still sealed 8ch A/D/S/ Power Plate off of ebay- and the guy was local. That will be put to use in my upcoming build for my mids/highs.

I love the older stuff also, the powerplate was awesome, too bad DEI screwed the pooch and ruined the line. Morel is my favorite, however I could not justify 50 different speakers.. and will just keep JL. I used to talk trash about JL and compare it to the American Made Rockford fosgate amps. Well now that RF is whoring to China, I had to eat a little turd, but went to JL for everything. Everything now is on a pretty much even playing field. Kind of like NASCAR with restrictor plate racing, all cars being equal... Where the challenge comes today is the application and integration. Or basically the installation.

Oh and don't get me started... this thread will be so hi-jacked, El Al Airlines would be taken notes. Even todays installation specialist is crap! (99.9% of them)

Thats why i havn't sold any of my PG Titanium gear Jim.

One day i'll put it in the new car.

It was your BMW M3 install and your advise on the old Phoenix Gold forum that got me to do my BIG PG Titanium install.

Keep up the masterful work Jim.
