auto windsheild wipers going crazy !

when using my auto mode on the wipers they start to wipe for no reason . Mostly in misty weather thy tend to wipe a lot more then seems needed . Is this a problem with most of the auto wiper systems ?
Is there any cleaners like alcahol or something that I could use on the senser to get it to work better ?

mine too! although it starts it when it's bright and sunny... although it may have something to do with shadows moving accross it, I'm not sure...

Why do you leave it on Auto mode anyway?

It doesn't sould like either of you really have a problem.

I'll have to try it because I always keep it off unless it starts to rain. When raining though it works great.

but isnt the automatic feature so that you don't have to even think about it? just like automatic headlights... just leave em on auto and forget it!

Yea, in a way. Mine went on in the car wash once. From that point on I kept it off unless I needed it.

yeah the manual says remember to turn it off before car wash time... which i've always been paranoid that i'd forget... but the people that wash it always seem to remember to turn it off first

I don't turn on this feature all the time, but only on rainy days. On thoses days, I always forgot to turn it off when park and then shut down the engine. When I start the engine next morning, wiper wipes once and then stops. Of course windshield is all dried and outside is sunny. Is this happen to you guys too?

YES. Another reason why I keep mine off.

actually, it is supposed to do this. every time you start the car with wipers on auto they wipe once to remind you that they are on.

1. As indicated in the thread, the wipers will operate once when you start if they are left in AUTO mode - to remind you they are in AUTO.

2. I don't know if this is by design, but my "AUTO" mode seems related to the condition of the windshield when I turn it on. if clear when I turn it on, the wipers activate more often. If misted, they seem to actvate when I reach about the same degree of misting as when I went to AUTO. If it's too often, I get better results if I turn AUTO off, let the windshield get wet to the point where I would want operation, then turn it back on. I have never seen any documentation about this, but that's my experience.

3. A very mild abrasive made for cleaning fiberglass can work wonders on glass. Bon Ami is one. It won't scratch the glass but will clean it. Be sure to be thorough in cleaning it off, however, because it will wear out your blades if left on. Do not use harsher cleansers made for tile. Also note, this is for the glass, not the sensor - but cleaner glass will give better results with the sensor.
