Sat Radio Question for sl55 and s55

i have the s55 and sl55 MY 03 which can be integrated with the sirius radio, but i want to move the sat unit to my other cars or home station. the dealer can integrate the install of the sat to work thru the 03 units but as i understand the units are hidden and not movable to other cars etc. what are my options please to have a portable and integrated set-up? thanks

Mercedes receivers are made by Delphi, and are black boxes designed to be hidden in the rear of the car. The control and audio for these receivers are via a fiber optic connection. D2B in earlier cars and MOST in later cars. I would only consider moving one of these units if it had a lifetime subscription, and the new car used the same fiber optic connection. Neither Mercedes unit can connect to the aux input, since there is no wired output.

To move a unit from car to car, there are several types available that have a line out that will connect to the aux input. These units also require an antenna and DC power connection. See sirius.com for current types available. All sound the same, the differences being in the controls and features. None of the portables integrate into the head unit, nor the CANbus for display on the MFD.
