2000 C230 CD Changer Wiring-Need Help!

I just got a used mercedes cd changer that goes in the trunk of my 2000 C230. I found the fiber-optic cable but I am trying to figure where the power wire is. The player has a 3-pin input. Do I need to purchase a seperate cable and if so, where does it hook-up?

Am just assuming that you're in the USA. As such, both fiber and power
harnesses should already be bundled with the car. Fiber should be bright
orange. Power should be fairly small, twin lead, black colored, terminating
into a small, black polarized plug...about 3/8"x1/8"x1/16".

Get a strong flashlight and continue looking close to where you found the
fiber twin lead. the power may be zip tied tightly with wiring bundle close
by. Look for hint of unuse, dangling end plug described above.

Am guessing that your changer is going to be MC-3010 or MC-3198 (both
are USA issued fiber. 3010 is scootch smaller and newer.

Raymond,
Thanks, I will look again where I located the Fiber cable. I did find what looks like a 25-pin computer connector that was wrapped-up near the fiber cable along with a RF cable. The changer I have is a 3110 cd changer....Thanx

That model should work also. Do me a favor, please. when you get yours,
would appreciate if you can measure height, width and length and post them.

C230 CD Changer

Raymond...
I found the power cable, it was tucked-in the hellga unit on the right side. I traced the fiber cable and also found the other end of the fiber-optic cable there too. The one I originally found is on the left side of the car with the 25-pin cable. Where does this hook into??? Do I need some sort of converter box? I will also get the measurements of the CD Changer and post them...

Im a little confused now. You said that one end of the FIBER terminates on
the left rear...where you found it first. Then you say you traced it to the
opposite side of the car, in the right rear?

To verify, take bright light...like laser pointer. light up one of the fiber ends
and look for corresponding light on the other end.

In my head, I don't quite know what to make of a fiber harness laid out the
way you described. I would think the other end would go to the instrument
panel, eg right near, or plugged into the head unit.

The other connections may have to do with telephone, amplifier, antenna
stuff. This is where my experience is lacking

Is your car a USA model?

If your car indeed uses FIBER connection between head unit and CD changer,
the rear of the CD changer should give you a clue as to the requisite
plugs. If the MC3110 is the same or similar to MC3010 you'll see (from
my picture above) that the power should be a small, simple 2 pin connection,
not a larger, multiple pin block.

CD Changer Fiber problem resolved

Raymond,

Excuse my newbiness, you were correct. The fiber cable on the left side was for the telephone, I just ASSumed it was the other end of the CD fiber. I traced the cables and found that the changer fiber cable was not fully inserted into the rear of the radio. The cd player works fine and all I need to do is fabricate some mounting brackets. The model #3110 does indeed work in a 2000 C230. Thank You again for all your help!!!!
