Just had the dealer install the MB Nav system to my 05 with command. They did not give me the command manual so I must buy one from them at my expense. Seems they did not program correctly in that in the owners manual page 124 it shows that in the information screen between the speedo & tach it should have a Nav menu, mine does not. Not sure exactly how to work it till I get the manual, things like memory etc. Also at night is the screen supposed to get darker.

 

If you look in your owners book there should be a command book there. It should have everything from stereo to nav in it. Your settings for the nav are probably not right for when your lights are on. There is a setting for it. If you cant figure it out take it back to the dealer and have someone sit with you to get it right. You paid good money for it.

 

They have to program the MFD to recognize the nav system. When I installed mine it did the same. Nav menu would only show up in the MFD after dealer programmed it with star diag. Took them two attempts, too.

NO - that is not CHEESY...every single E-class comes with the comand (and navigation) manual from the dealer when sold new.
There is no additional navigation manual.

In the owners manual there is 1 page for Nav it shows the multi function screen for Nav in the menu, nothing else, it says also look at the command manual.

 

and that coMand manual comes with the new car as well

Called MB customer service about the command manual, they said it only comes with the car is Nav is factory ordered.

 

That doesnt sound right. My car didnt have nav installed from the factory but i have the command manual. It has every thing in there from how to operate the phone(which I dont have) to the sat radio. Someone is feeding you BS

 

Hi, I just installed a Euro Comand in my W211 but the Navi is not working keep getting error messages saying Navi device unavailable. I took it to two dealer to program the unit no on knew. The comand is a all in one unit can someone please help me out on this. Is there any short cut on the unit that I can do or any one have step by step so I can give to the dealer. Thanks in adav...........

 

You still need to have the NAV drive installed in the rear, plus several other small pieces for the GPS side. It's a separate DVD unit that mounts in t he left rear of the trunk. The Command is strictly the head unit.

 

...so what you are basically saying - is that you have bought an APS50 (for whatever reason) and installed that in your car that HAD a comand with an intrunk navigation drive???

That is never - ever going to work!!!

I was thinking of getting an EuroComand .Do i need a navi drive ? If i do,are they all the same or i have to look for something specific??

The euro comand also works with the standard NAV drive for all 211's.
