Pre-wiring for iPod integration kit - what is it?
Hoep someone can help me understand what my new SLK has w/r/t some of the wiring:
The description of the "609 Entertainment Package" on my 2006 SLK 280 says, among other things, that I have the COMAND head unit and "pre-wiring for iPod integration kit and DVD-based navigation". NAV I can care less about, but I am curious just what the pre-wiring for the iPod integration gets me? No one at my dealer could explain it in detail, so I thought I'd ask here (I did some newbie searches first, found the info. about the $299 wiring kit, went and got one, and wow - it is a bear to install.... lots of interior trim removal etc.). After seeing the 49 page PDF on how to install this kit, I started wondering just what, if anything, this pre-wiring supposedly does for me. If this kit is any indication, I would say the pre-wiring in the 609 PKG is nothing more than the aux input port in the glovebox, which ain't much....
If anyone can shed more info. I would be grateful.... TIA.

there is NO!!!! pre wiring for the Ipod kit - all that that package means is that you have a system that is compatible with the Ipod kit as it comes from mercedes
An SLK with audio20 is not compatible with any of the mercedes Ipod kits
