TMC in USA revisited

Hi guys,

Are there any rumors about MB using Clearchannel TMC on COMAND in the US? Or maybe Sirius Traffic?

I actually don't know what's involved. Is it both a hardware and a software issue?

It is a government issue. The European car makers laugh at the USA attempts to get traffic info into cars. There are several competing systems, with some requiring a subscription by the end user. They are loathe to add another "feature" to the radio if it is not going to be used, or is not available nation wide. They would like to see a standard adopted by government, and be implemented nationally for free.

I have a Euro COMAND and would be willing to pay for traffic info that covers the San Francisco Bay area but I haven't been able to find a system that's available (either using TMC via radio or via dial up).
Has anyone got any ideas?
thanks
