Audio10CD Alpine MF2910

Hi, I disconnected my battery recently and tried to re-input the code on my Audio10CD. The code was rejected 3 times even though I have the original code card supplied with the car. Radio now has 'WAIT' displayed. I have left radio on to try and get the 'CODE' display back-up. Does anyone know how long this will take and the correct procedure for re-input of code?

I think I read yesterday somewhere that it takes overnight or something like five hours - I could be wrong though.
