Alpine CD Changer

I just purchased an Alpine CHM-S630 6-Disc Changer for my 95 C220. In addition, I bought an interface adapter made by Precision Interface (sold by Crutchfield). I was hoping on installing the changer myself as I believe my car is already pre-wired to the head unit.

My question relates to the mounting of the changer unit. I noticed that there are two screw holes on the right side of the truck in the cavity made for the changer. However, the holes are along the left "wall" of the cavity but the changer comes with mouting brackets that attach to its sides for installation on the floor of the cavity. Can I screw the floor brackets onto the floor of this cavity without risking damage to any part in the vehicle? Given that the changer doesn't have any holes on the bottom where it could attach to the screw holes alongside the "wall", I'm not sure how it is supposed to be installed.

Furthermore, where can I purchase a cover to protect the changer from other items in the trunk?

Any help, info, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
