COMAND in C230, MCS in ML - Adding Video

I've read the recent threads, and to be honest, they confuse me more than anything else. Here is what I have:

2001 ML320 - US vehicle with MCS, no navigation system
2002 C230 Coupe - US vehicle with factory-installed COMAND

Here is what I want:

The ability to add DVD video to the existing headunit screens with audio playing through the existing speakers. I have a child that rides in both cars, adding something to watch Teletubbies or Wiggles DVDs will be a godsend!

Questions...

1. Is it possible on both cars?
2. If it is possible, what do I need to buy/what are my options?
3. Is this an outsourced job or one capable by someone that has done fairly complex audio installs before?

I have the DVD players, just wondering if I can make them work. Thanks!

Its (relatively) easy on the COMAND car. I suggest that if you are anywhere near nav-tv that you have him do it.

There are some options :-

1) Add a TV tuner, then you get TV, and 2 aux video inputs
2) Add a megacomm video adapter, then you just get one video input

(1) Is substantially more expensive than (2) because you have to install proper wiring looms, aerials and the TV tuner is twice the price of the megacomm video adapter - but its worth it :-)

I have no idea about the MCS, but I doubt it given its a US only thing from 1998, and the US didnt even have the TV stuff in COMAND until recently, even though Europe have had it since 1999.

Cheers

I really have no desire to watch TV channels in the car, only DVD, so is the megacomm adapter something I could self-install? I am about 10 hours from Nav-TV.

If you have some idea of auto electronics, then its trivial. However, getting one from Germany to the US is not.

I beleive Ted Baldwin may have one in the US already, alternatively go see www.megacomm.de

(german only, and only ship to Europe, and you need to send them Euros, not credit card etc last time I looked)

Theres about 6 cables you have to install in the C1 or C2 connectors or to positve feed (which COMAND has) on your car - then you need to visit your dealer and have them configure your COMAND for "TV" in the COMAND adaptations menu.

Note that I have never done stuff with US COMAND, only Nav-TV has - I beleive that Ted bought a Eurpean COMAND system - and I dont know of anyone that has put the megacomm adapter on a US COMAND system ....
