Wat's your budget mate?? How do you like your speaker to sound like?? European brand usually has mellow characteristic. I love my Dynaudio, Eton is good as well and it's made in German.

i would like them to be clear loud and clean no distortion. i have a pair of mb quart qsd210 for the front and a pair of mb quart rce210 for the rear and a jl audio 300/4 amp all in witch i never used. i went to a al-eds and the guy told me that my 4" speakers would sound like crap since my car an 06 e350 would take 5 1/4 " speakers and then he wanted to sell my all this new crap but i didn't buy nothing. so i was wondering how all you guys think it would sound since i think that guy just wanted me to spend $$$$ in his store.

I believe the e class will take 6.5 inch with no problem. I haven't auditioned MB Quart speaker, so cannot say anything about it. Amping them with a good amplifier and good wattage will certainly make them loud and clean. 4" speaker will struggle if u ask them to produce low frequency loudly but doesn't neccesarily sound crap, if u want a set of splits with plenty of bass get at least 6.5 inch midbass. Before buying any speaker, make sure u auditoned them first.

You can't go wrong with Focals, Rainbow (I don't know if you could still get these anymore), Image Dynamics, Boston Pros, MB Quarts, CDT, Diamond Audio, & DLS...but you should give us a budget on how much you're willing to dish out for speakers. It will narrow down your selection. As for 4" speakers.....stay away from these please! I have 4" MB Quart components on my beater and there is NO midbass whatsoever. It sounds so hollow if I didn't have my sub. From the layout that I attached, I'd get 6.5" speakers. I get my stuff off ebay or www.woofersetc.com cuz they're cheaper than any shop in my area. That 300/4 would do wonders with a nice set of speakers.

E class door has an excellent deadening material, you shall see a good result if u decide to put a decent 6.5" speaker.

I may be wrong but i think i saw another post by you where you already have the Harman/Kardon system in your car?

If this is the case does any one know if the speakers can be changed and still use the processor, amp etc?

The diagram above says the speakers are "metal matrix" so i presusme they are actually Infinity speakers?

As far as the best sounding speakers are concerned.

They are the best that sound to you.

In 6.5" i like Rainbow Profi Vanadium kick, Morel Elate with Supremo tweeter, Focal Utopia, Dynaudio, Alpine F#1 (scan-speak).

There will also be a MOST interface available in the next few weeks. It will plug right into the Ring and provide full range RCA outputs and a remote turn on to add external amps and speakers.

Directed Electronics is the distributor. My sales rep told me mid month next month Info will probably show up on www.directed.com in the next couple of weeks. I saw a prototype at CES and it is The answer everyone has been looking for. MB is the only unit that is ready, BMW,Porsche,Land Rover are next(in the works now). I will be selling them as well as other highend car audio shops that handle DEI products.

W211 Ryder...i already have a brand new set of the mb quart speakers they are the top of the line model i think they are the qsd210 model and i have the rear set witch is 4" as well and these should be reference series i think the model number would be rce210. i really don't want to get different speakers because these already cost me about $1500 total just for the speakers alone.is there some thing that i might be able to do with my current speakers ? do you think if i just install what i have it will sound like crap ?

here is a list of what i have

1 set mb quart 4" component speakers model qsd210 for the front

1 set mb quart 4" component speakers model rce210 for the rear

1 alpine type r 12" sub

1 jl audio amp 300/4 for the speakers

1 jl audio amp 500/1 for the sub

and i also have all the equipment to install the system.

if you guys can help me out i have been waiting to upgrade my sound system for a long time and i wanna use these speakers if possible.

The 4" QSD 210 set will only give you midrange and highs.
It will not be able to reproduce mid bass.
If you have the Harman/Kardom system in your car now, you will be going backwards if you put in a 4" speaker in place of a 6.5".

If your MB Quart set is still new, see if the shop you bought it from will exchange it for the QSD 216 set which has the 6.5" speaker. The difference in price will be well worth it.

As much as you paid for your Q series speakers, they will not produce any midbass due their lack of cone area. I've gone through 4" Infinity Kappas with their Plus One technology, Boston Acoustic S45s, and now I'm currently on MB Quarts PCE210's and they all suck when producing midbass. I'm thinking of getting a set of these and see if they make any difference. http://www.acoustic-visions.com/~aco.../exodus_wr125/ OR http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=297-010

Generally, larger speakers will always have better low frequency extension. Since 6.5" would be a direct fit for our cars, I would go that route. Plus, you'll probably need to fabricate an adapter plate since you are trying to mount a 4" speaking into a 6" opening. I know you'll take a big hit, but I would try selling your speakers or maybe return them. Other than that, you'll have nice system. Are you going for a sealed or ported box for your R?

Talking

He could keep the QSD 210 and add the QSD 164 6.5" mid bass add on kit for a very nice 3 way front stage.

I had a Phoenix Gold Elite 9-5-1 in my old W210 E320.

Something to think about

I also had ambient tweeters in the sail panels which helped raise the sound stage. Staging was not a problem as time aligement was also used.

Mind you a lot of hours went into tuning and fine tuning and then some more in fact i never stopped fine tuning it.

It was possible as the PG Elite 9" speaker has a very shallow depth of about 2.5". A little cutting of metal was required but nothing major. The hard part was redoing the bottom half of the door panel.

The mid bass that this speaker produced was outstanding.

If i was you i would go the simple route and replace the 4" set with a 6.5".

To do a 3 way install can become very expensive and time consuming. My system took about 5 weeks to complete.

I also like the MB Quart Q series and i wouldn't hesitate to put the QSD 216 6.5" set in the front of my car.
