99 clk nav options, please help!!
Hey guys, new member here, great site! I have a 99 clk 320, but it does not have navigation. I know it is a double din radio size, so I can go after market if I need to. Can I purchase a unit like the pioneer avic d1 and will it work in the clk? do I need any adapters for the wiring harness? Or should I just buy the stock mercedes stuff, will it plug right in? If so, where is a good place to buy besides e bay? thankyou very much, info is apreciated!

All of your car's entertainment/Telematic functions are intetrated via a fiber-optic D2B ring. If you pull the factory head unit, you can no longer use the ring so you'll need a new CD Changer too (if you care). Teleaid will also be lost but this will not be an issue for '99's since the analog network will shut down early '08 and retrofits will not go back that far anyway.
If you want to keep your car stock looking, keep it as is and don't try to upgrade with factory parts. Support for older generation stuff is waning quickly and factory in-dash Navi wasn't avialable for CLK at that time anyway.
If you really want Navi, go aftermarket and have a good shop install it.
