Just got my car back from the shop where they hardwired a V1 and Blinder Xtreme MX-20 Laser Jammer into my CLS. The guys at Technicar did a fantastic job. It almost looks like a factory option.
Have a look at the pics.
The V1 installed in the rearview mirror. Notice the L and the arrow display.

Here is a view from the side. You can clearly see the strength indicator and frequency band leds.

Stashed away in the ashtray compartment is the fully operational V1 knob. Just above it is the Blinder Xtreme status LED, green all is well, red is jammer on.

They stashed the laser detector / jammers just below the upper bumper and to the insides of the fog lights. This allows for unobstructed view of the road.

I gotta give the boys at Technicar is NYC props. It only took them two days and they did a fantastic job. I couldn't be happier.

The directional arrows work perfectly, and the radar dector has not lost any range.

They charged be $2500 to install both the Laser Jammer and the V1. It took them about 5 hours just for the Laser Jammer because I needed to get custom mounts made.

I know of a company in NJ that will do it as well. They also offer a few other options of hidding the remote unit in a snap panel on the dash so the cop behind you can't see the V1 in the mirror. Plus they don't charge 2500 for that setup. They are set to do my ML this way.

I'd still love to see a pic of a hidden main V1 unit. I've scoured the interent, and people say they have them/seen them, but then never come through with a pic

The only thing you need now for that car is the Milan collection from Strut Wear. That looks hot!

No one is going to show you a hidden completed unit, that would give up the answer to how they do it. And with people paying 2500 an install, no one wants to give away secrets.

Ill spill the beans...
They took the unit apart. The control knob and buzzer are in the ashtray compartment (per my request); the rest of the system is hidden in the rearview mirror.
If your in NYC and want to get it done talk to Ramon @ Technicar 212.765.4777 tell them Jose sent you.

Don't they just sell the remote indicator that is integrated into the rearview for $300-500? I swear I've seen a company sell the entire assembly that you can buy to interface with your existing V1.

Actually, the sell the mirror already assembled. its the same as what you have. the remote unit is put into the mirror and wired to the main unit which is hidden up in the head liner. The mirrors are sold for 700 - 1000 depending on the car. its big with the porsche guys. They tend to spend. Its no secret how it is done.
