W203 Sedan Bose sub Sealing/Insulating

As you may know, the bose system in the w203's are lacking in bass. I've read that sealing or insulating the rear hatshelf where the sub is located improves the bass significantly. Has anyone done this? I've STFF and just came up with the fact that it can and has been done, but with no directions. If i had warranty i would have had the dealer do it by complaining of a rattle from the area. Any input would be appreciated.

Might as well get a new sub. If you don't want to hassle with sw box, find a decent powered sub small enough to put under the rear speakers deck.
Kenwood KSC-SW1 might work. It's equipped with integrated amp and you can tap the signal from your rear speaker because the input impedance matches (2 ohm).

What about a 2ohm sub that fits in the same place as the bose that could use the bose amp?

Did you ever check how thin and small the Bose sub is ? I thought you wanted to improve the sound.

Yea it is really thin. So what your saying is to leave that sub in there, and tap into it for the signal, and maybe mount and small enclosure under the hatshelf?

Yes I think that would be a good thing to do if you don't want to have a subwoofer box in your trunk. The next thing is to figure out how to get the power from your battery. You might have to run 12v remote cord from fuse #7 in the trunk fuse box as well, that way your sub turns on/off with your ignition. Don't forget to disconnect the audio pilot microphone in your cabin.
Search the forum again, there's plenty of discussion about this issue. Good luck
