XM Radio in a c230

I have 2006 c230 with a factory radio. This is not the command system. I currently have the ipod converstion in the auxillary and the cd changer in the glove box. I was very interested in installing xm radio in my car. I was going to have they try to install it in the ash tray and remove the lighter and tray since i dont smoke. This would have to be an FM modulater correct, or does the ipod attatchment have an additional auxillary connector with it. Does anyone else out there have XM with their car? Look forward to any reply.

I haave an Alpine XM unit which uses an FM modulator and sounds quite good. However, it would be a shame to waste the possibility of a direct connection to an AUX input. I don't know the answer to your question, but if it turns out that the ipod does not have an extra input, there is one other thing you might try. My Alpine XM unit has an AUX input, and so I have connected my ipod to the Alpine XM unit, in effect running them both through the FM modulator. You may be able to locate an XM unit which you could hook up to your car's AUX input and to which you could connect the ipod. Then both your XM and your ipod would run through the AUX input.

Good luck.

i have a 2006 c280 and it did not have sattelite radio. i had sirius installed in my vehicle and it is completely integrated into the sytem. the installer the dealer referred me to had the technology to do so (even though the dealer said it was impossible). it is so much better than fm modulated. i kindof wanted xm but having it fully integrated is a world of difference. you can control the station and sound through the steering wheel!!! kicks a$$
