Fiber optic to aux input adapter

Fiber optic to aux input adapter
I have a 2000 SL500 and am not happy with the quality of wired FM modulator input for an iPod.
I am thinking of going the direct route, but this car has D2B and so needs an aux input adaptor.
I have found these two,

Does anyone have any experience with these adapters?
I am assuming they plug in in place of the CD changer into the head unit?
One thing I have heard is that they must be at the end of the D2B ring. It looks like the only thing on the ring on the 2000 SL500 is the radio and CD changer (I don't have cellular or voice activation). Anyone know for sure?

I'm leaning very strongly toward the Dension Gateway 500 from MaxxCount. It's supposed to go right in the D2B loop and emulate a CD changer.
It promises COMAND control of the iPod, and has USB, AUX input and video, without giving up your CD changer. Im very anxious to see reports from actual owners of this product.
