COMAND 2.5 NAVI Moving Map w/o Destination?

COMAND 2.5 NAVI Moving Map w/o Destination?
Can I set my COMAND 2.5 NAVI to keep the map moving and the vehicle cursor centered without having any destination entered? When I try to do this, the map remains stationary and the cursor 'drives' right off the screen.

I don't know what version is which but when I push the "map" button on both my cars (they are different versions) you get a constant re-centering of the triangle (vehicle indicator) as the map moves. Nothing needs to be programmed or "set". One car is 2001 and the other 2005.
