Considering 2004 E500 Wagon (W211) and . . .

1. This car has the option 320 "entertainment package" premium sound system. I tried the AUX input with my I-pod (on which I use full bitrate WAV or apple lossless encoding) and the sound quality, to use the technical term, sucked. I mean it really sucked. There appeared to be no bass response at all (in any sound mode) and the treble and mid response made AM radio look good. What have other experienced? I have an I-pod interface for my Lexus and it A-Bs almost perfectly with the CD changer. BTW, as a general observation, I was disappionted by the "premium" sound system; it doesn't even come close to the Mark Levinson in the Lexus.
2. Is the Bluetooth puck situation really as bad as it appears on other threads? This car has the V60 and VCS system so the puck is an option, but I have a Sony Ericcson Z710i (a variant of the Z520/Z525 series). Is there any prayer it will work? I have the Parrot systems in both the Lexus and my SL500 and they work great with almost any phone. I integrated the system into both vehicles, but didn't want to go down that road again.
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
