Help needed
Hello,
I have a '02 S320 with a NOKIA phone that came along with the car when I bought it.
It has been 4 years since I last used the phone.
And now I got myself a new number so I figured why not use it with my car's phone,I inserted my new SIM card yesterday and it worked fine but today when I started my car and tried to call my friend it came up with a "NO NETWORK COVERAGE" msg, although I tried it yesterday in the exact same location.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I guess to order of troubleshooting would be to take the phone out if the car to see if it works. if it does, then it could be an antenna or splitter connection.
It seems like the system see the phone, otherwise it would say "telephone not ready" instead of "no network."
If it doesn't work out of the car (Hopefully not), then it's a problem with the handset.
Keep us posted...

I can't take it out,it uses a special cable if I deatached it it will not work outside the car, because there will be no power (the handset can not be used seperatly)

An issue with some W211(E-classes) was that MB installed analog antennas which cellphone companies do not use anymore. They changed to Digital band coverage. You might want to look into the type of antenna used by your car.
Ya might want to do a forum search with analog and digital as some keywords...a member, Skylaw, is profoundly intelligent on the matter and often takes time out to write detailed responses to phone issues...maybe he'll take a peek here and can help you out as he too has a S-Class.
The analog antenna issue may not be the case with your car...it's an extremely costly upgrade on the W211s with the issue if they want to update the antenna to digital..Good luck buddy

you may want to give a MB dealership a call or visit and ask them about your issue.
Also, I'm pretty sure there's a MB phone # for owners who have inquiries...I've got no clue what it is though, as everything innovative and informative is here on MBworld
I'm afraid you may have the analog issue, I think they started installing Digital antennas on 03 models of E classes(and probably other cars, such as your S) but you'll never know...I just got a Bluetooth puck for my E500, calling from the car phone is incredibly useful, much less distracting and totally enjoyable as I've got no reception problems, yours should be even better considering you'll be using the car antenna
