![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have a new 2007 R-320 which has the MB factory RES DVD monitors behind the front headrests. So far it will only play DVD format movies but none of my DVD-R disks format!
Does anyone has encountered this? any solutions for DVD-R disks?
Thanks for any good suggestions.

Changing brands might also help.
In my W211 COMAND head unit I find that DVD+R and DVD+RW formats usually play much better than DVD-R and DVD-RW. DVD-R formats usually skip a lot and some brands of DVD-R don't even play at all. This is also true for the Navigation drive (in the trunk) when using backup copies of the NAVTEQ DVDs. These units are manufactured for MB by Harman/Becker so if your unit is also Harman/Becker then you're probably facing the same problem.

Thanks for your response.
Yes, I tried both the DVD-R and DVD+R and got the "error disc formate" message from the headrest monitors.
I read on the Command User Manual for my '07 R320, pps 88-89, it states thate the RES player should play DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW formats. But so far no dice for me! I have called my MB service advisor and he is waiting for answers from MB tech specialist!
Anyone else have experience on this?

This isn't a direct reply to your question, but I discovered with a Honda Odyssey with DVD that I traded in for my W164, that different brands of disks can mean the difference between disk error and success. I tried a half-dozen different brands until I found one that worked consistently, then I bought 250 of them and stuck with that brand. It's also useful to point out that manufacturer name on the DVD blanks is *not* an indicator of the quality of the disk. This web page:

served me well as a primary source of information. Good luck.
