Avic or doubleDIN hu in w211?
i could swear i saw someone here do a headunit swap in a w211 with a double din headunit like an AVIC but i cant find it on the search. does anyone know if the avic-z2 will fit or have any experience with it?

There is a dash kit available from BEST KITS to suit the w211, I'll get a part number for you when I'm back at work in the morning.
But it is only good for w211's till mid 2003 as they changed to MOST bus system and it is a ***** to wire.

i am worried about the shallow mounting depth for a double din on a w211. some people say it only has about a 6 inch mounting depth and most aftermarket hu's need like 10 inch depths.

I've not had a problem and they would not make a kit if you can't fit a headunit in there, that would be financial suicide for them.

probably referring to this W211. He has a nice setup! Got a Pioneer Avic-Z1 in there.
