Speaker question for SL55
would just a simple replacement of the door speakers with 3 ways like Focal 165's be an improvement or do you have to add any amps also.

if it is the same system as a new SL65, your in for a treat. the signal is all over the place and processed crazily, i used a cleansweep by JL Audio and the Summing network by JL also to obtain the signal for a set of ZR components... you guessed it... JL again
we did the tweets in the a pillar, a 3 way would of been my ultimate goal, but the SQ of the 2-way set up, amp'd by an alpine PDX is damn good.
BTW it was a 6 1/2"

thanks for your responses. i have a 03 mercedes that may have the same bose system but the command and nav are different. i guess i will have to visit some local shops to get an understanding of what i need. i was hoping a simple swap of speakers would be a start. its been a long time since i played with car stereo systems. thanks
