Updated Nav cd's, any improvement?

Updated Nav cd's, any improvement?
Over the years I have routinely updated my nav cd’s when available. As often as I update is about as often as I am disappointed in their lack of updated information. I’ve yet to own one that has a street that I live on be included. Streets that are 4 or 5 years old never seem to be included in the latest and greatest releases. Points of interest never seem to be upgraded. The MB discs have about 1/1000 of the information that my Garmin unit has out of the box. I’m tired of throwing money away on “updates” MB monopoly will not be getting any more from me on their ancient navigation systems. Does anyone else feel ripped off from poor “updated” discs?

While this doesn't guarantee that it will be fixed, go to navteq.com and click on Map Reporter. This will allow you to submit errors of any kind, such as missing streets, closed businesses, improper addresses, etc. They do get back to you eventually.

The NAV on my MB is my 1st (and only) experience with a navigation unit in a car. I am disappointed in the way it works, and I don't think these are the least bit intuitive or user-friendly. I hope that the DVD-based units are an improvement.

I have a friend who used to work for a GPS software company. She informs me that the GOS systems manufacturers (such as Garmin) and map makers (i.e. Navteq) have almost turned their backs on the in-car units in favor of refining mapping engines and providing better maps to the hand-held or portable market, which is much larger.
She also said that the hardware folks are working with auto manufacturers on standard for some sort of dock in cars that will accept portable units. A dash slot with power, for example, that would enhance the value of their cars and give them something useful to sell as an option.
Personally, I would go for that. I have had a Garmin Nuvi 350 for about six months, and love it. I just bought my '04 CLK with COMAND, and was quite surprised as the low user-friendliness of the nav system. Then I started reading these forums and realized I wasn't alone!
