Dismantling / Cleaning COMAND 2.0
I finally got around to writing a document to go with the stack of photos I took last time I took a comand 2.0 unit apart to clean the laser (fix CD read errors) and the roller (fix the cd eject error)

I just want to ask the following:
Do you know what to do if the COMAND 2.0 ('02 c320) unit does not completely shut down after ignition has shut off?.....the screen shuts off and all button illuminations turns off but the power button and can hear the head unit's fan still run....I've checked the diagnosis on it but no errors...the unit is "standby" mode and not "sleep" mode per-say.
any inputs would be greatly appreciated and I would keep the situation updated.

Indeed a great write up and it gives me confidence to open the thing up further. My CD rom packed up and I got twice a second hand unit but they both return a CD read error also. I think it must be the lenses being dirty. (Units probably on the shelf a long time), or might it be something else?. I also read your post on reading the hidden screens (menu's) It gives me a list of fault codes though. When you do a reset those codes remain. How do you clear these codes?
