Thinking about adding a sub please help

I am thinking about adding a subwoofer to my 03 CL55 and i didn't want to get a box in the trunk. I just wanted to install it where to stock sub sits right now. Am i able to do that ? Also should i also get an amp or can i power it with just a stock amp i am thinking about getting a JL w6 ver 2. Any advice would be great. Also is it a 10" in there ?

CHeck the depth of the stock subwoofer first, then with the w6. I'm not totally sure what the wattage is on the stock amp...but it probably won't be enough for the w6

Jl is coming out with a new thin woofer 12 and 13.5" though. I have a plan for a single one utilizing an aperiodic membrane , resulting in a very thin profile enclosure bolted to the rear deck and trimmed out to look factory. i will post some pics when I get the woofer

look into the kicker comp vt sub. it's got a mounting depth less than 4 inches i believe. it can easily handle 400 watts and 800 rms peak...and it wont disappoint you
