cd changer and audio input on ml 320 2000
Your ML has a D2B fiber optics bus. You will not be able to integrate a 3rd party, non-optical CD changer with your COMAND and steering wheel controls. You really do need the OE CDC.
You may be able to add one with devices such as the GateWay 500 for D2b, which allows integration of an iPod with your audio system, COMAND and steering wheel controls; limited integration of USB Flash memory devices, and provides an RCA aux input with very limited integration (volume control). I do not believe you would be able to control the features of the CDC itself through it. See the Gateway 500 at http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1062 but be sure to get to the page for the D2b version.
There may be other integration devices folks could suggest, but I think you'll wind up with a complex and less than satisfactory setup unless you're changing out the entire audio system.
