Nav system in 08 E550
I have ordered an 08 550 and am concerned about all the negative talk about the MB nav. system. I have never had a nav system before so I am wondering what I have to look forward to? Has it been updated recently? I know it is not touch screen but can it be all bad? I really am looking forward to having one but seems like most posts don't like it.
Is there an operator manual available somewhere I can read ahead of time. How often and what is the cost of CD updates for the system? Can anyone who sees value in the nav system give me anything positive to look forward to?

I just got an '08 E350 with the Nav system. It's the first Nav system I've ever used so maybe I'm naive about it but I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I just set up destinations for an entire 5,500 mile driving vacation and had absolutely no problems doing it. Make use of the LIST and POI functions as well as specifying specific locations using the MAP function. I haven't actually used the system for directions yet but I don't see why I won't like it.
BTW, I had an '04 E320 with the H-K radio and I believe the '08 sounds much better. I've been into stereo for decades and this system sounds pretty good to me. Bass sounds real, not false as a lot of people seem to prefer. Drum attacks are solid. Instrument placement is accurate. I've heard worse systems.
