Dealer installed CD changer

I've noticed that MB dropped price for factory installed CD changer to $400. Have somebody tried it as a dealer installed option and how much dealer charged in this case?

No change, the stealers still get to charge whatever they want.

When I was doing research on the 2002 Mercedes that I bought, I noted that there was a $400 charge for a factory installed CD. In another place on the MBUSA website, I saw the charge listed at $795 (I think it was). I asked about the discrepency and was told that the $400 was for a single CD player. I don't know if that was true or just a salesperson's spin, but if accurate, the price you are seeing might be for a single CD-player.

I believe your sales rep was mistaken. They are the same MB-Alpine changers. And, $400 is still twice what it is worth.

It's definitely a changer. E500 has in dash version, but S has still a trunk mounted, which can be used in old E too. I'm lazy to contact my dealer, but it looks like I have to.
