Navigation CD Versions
I just bought an 03 E320 with Navigation. Wow...the Navigation data is really lame. I'm amazed at how many major streets and roads don't even show up at all! The CD I have is an '02 edition and I have two questions:
1) If I buy a newer version will I see substantial improvement?
2) How new? The most recent version I see on eBay seems to be a 01/2004 release. But I've heard of a 2005 edition. What should I be looking for?

I'm still not sure if I'll see a big improvement (a lot more roads) if I get a late edition CD. Anyone know about that?
For some reason Navteq does not list any CDs for any MB model prior to 2004 on their website (at least I couldn't find any.) I'll give them a call.
It seems I could buy them from an MB dealer....but maybe I'll try to find a less expensive alternative. So if you have any suggestions.....

I think I read that they are working on a update for the 2007.1 because of some issues. Don't remember if I read it on the forum somewhere or someother site. But I would check around before I buy. The 2006.2 disk by all reports is OK. I have just ordered the DVD drive to install on my 2005 E320 so I can not tell how good or bad the 2006.2 performs. Also search this site for member "1badama" you also can try "parts questions" and he should show up. He is a MB parts guy and might be able to answer.

I tried Navteq and they weren't much help. They don't sell directly (only through MB) and couldn't even tell me what the most recent version was or whether it was significantly different than earlier versions......

I've been buying the updates for my 03' as they come out and am always disappointed. The whole nav system is antiquated and the maps are never in full detail. Save you money and put a garmin in the car.
