Mercedes' partner in wireless, AWS, will be glad to help you with both the puck and the phone. http://www.wireless4mb.com/ If you want just the puck, you'll want to check firmware and phone compatibility at http://www.wireless4mb.com/MB.pdf
SKY, my friends got a Motorola puck in his car, and i wanted to see if my sony ericsson or nokia would work in it, but their not listed in approved phones. how would i go about trying to set my phone up in his car? dunno what to do, just search and link with the puck?

I cannot answer regarding specific non-approved phones. Please try Diesel Benz' recommendations for pairing.
When you say the Motorola puck, I presume you mean one obtained from an MB dealer or AWS, made for Mercedes.
Most newer "incompatible" phones will make and receive calls; there may be problems with phone book downloads, SMS handling, and so forth. You simply may not get the features that a "compatible" phone offers.
In extreme circumstances, especially with the Bluetooth Version 1 pucks, firmware or equipment incompatibilities could cause the COMAND unit to freeze. Bluetooth 2 pucks are compatible with more phones, and I have not seen that problem reported recently.
One exception is the puck built into the RAZR V3 cradle. For some reason, contributors report that it works only with the RAZR, even undocked; and even the instructions that come with it say "up to 4 RAZRs may be paired" vice up to 4 phones.
Often, a phone is not on the "approved" list simply because either the phone or its firmware have not undergone the 90 days of testing that AWS does before placing them on the list. Early adopters have often reported a new "unapproved" phone and firmware combination worked fine, only to have it appear on the "approved" list later.
Many contributors have written in about their degree of success with various Nokia models; all I can advise you to do is search, and be sure you're looking at whether the car is U.S. or European.
