Sorry if much of this has been covered, but please indulge a newbie....
I have a 2001 SLK 320, integrated phone wiring (voice command), but no handset (car was pre-owned ... handset gone), and several questions:
1). Is the correct original handset for my car a Timeport, or Startac, or would either work ? (I have heard each of these answers from different sources).
2). Does anyone know where I might purchase a (reasonably priced) handset that will work with the wiring in my car ? Doesn't have to be the latest and greatest, just work and be (substantially) cheaper than a $1800 retrofit to the V60 (which my local dealer assures me is my only choice) ? I've seen some handsets on EBAY, but absent an answer to question 1). I don't know what I am shopping for ....
3). Anyone able to *document* an upgrade path that works ... internet urban legends about replacing PROMS or flashing EPROMS to make "non MB" handsets into "MB" compatible ones sound intriguing ... but I want to meet someone who has DONE IT.

I've been working with several level 3 Motorola service centers on this problem. Unfortunately, we are unable to obtain the proper flash file to make this work.
