Command 2.0 & Phone experts, help needed!

Vehicle;

Clk320 year 2000, euro command 2.0, V60 factory phone system, blue label PSE, VCM, bluetooth puck.

Problem;

Bluetooth puck not powering up, cluster displays "phone not in cradle"

Troubleshooting steps already tried;

Tried different bluetooth puck, no difference.
Powered bluetooth puck in house via wall charger, verified pucks work. Swapped out cradle, no change.
Did continuity check between PSE connector and RJ45 jack in center console, checked out ok, so no broken leads.
Tried UHI PSE, no change in behavior.
Checked engineering menu of Command, all devices detected, db2 ring ok. Broke ring, did DB2 wake up test, no change.
Checked system via Star diagnostics, no problem found, Command programmed for phone, everything checks out ok.
Went so far as to rearrange db2 ring configuration, no change.
With PSE unplugged, display says "phone not found" which is different message from PSE plugged in (phone not in cradle).
Checked power/ground at cradle and rj45 jack, 4.5v dc, which is proper charge voltage for v60 phone and v60 bluetooth puck.

Previous to my ownership, a V60 phone was used with the Euro command and then a full UHI phone used, then removed and restored back to V60 status

So, I am stumped, really stumped, I have done every diagnostic test I can come up with, except trying a actual Mercedes V60 phone, so I am hoping that someone here with more expertise than me, can lend some assistance.

thanks, any assistance is much appreciated.

the problem is more than likely the compensator harness.... Do you have the compensator? if you dont then you will at least need the compensator harness which feeds power back through the data cable to the cradle so the bluetooth will work.... I have been through this on a g wagon a while back and was stumped for a while till I figured it out when I pulled up the diagram on startek and followed the schematic.... I installed just the harness/adapter and then the bluetooth powered up. Good luck!

Interesting, I did review the Star wiring diagrams for the phone system, but I must of missed that small important fact. You are correct, I do not have the compensator harness, but you can bet I will be ordering one tomorrow!

Thanks so much Scott for the helpfull insight!

I could swing by your place and test your puck. I have the same setup in my 2001 CLK.

Thanks for the offer, although I have already tried a different puck, plus I powered up the puck in my house and sync'd my phone to it, so its definately not a puck issue.

I believe Scott hit it with the compensator cable, after his post, I went through the wiring diagrams again and there are several wires that are re-routed when the compensator cable is connected to the PSE. I got lucky and found a compensator cable on Ebay, they are no longer available through MB and there are none in stock in Germany either. I expect it to be here in a couple of days and I will report back if it corrects the problem.
