Hi all! After a battery replacement of the key, my '95 E230 doesn't recognize the single key I have and it won't start ![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Does anybody know how to solve this problem? I know that transporting it to a Mercedes service is an answer, but it means a lot of money since that service isn't too near![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
The key is a foldable one and the remote control works by infrared, if this is somehow useful to identify the model.

Are you sure the battery in installed correctly and that its good? Your symptoms don't sound like simply replacing the battery could have caused them.

i have the same problem. i think the only way to fix it is through mercedes benz. i wonder how much it cost though? cuz for mine the key can still lock the car and everyhtin. and i know it can be the battery for the car nor the key.

Don't know what to do... I guess the only option is MB service
If I cannot control the central lock using the remote, then the car won't start. It always happened like that, the engine wouldn't start without previously unlocking the car using the remote control inside the key itself. The car doesn't have an aftermarket alarm. I don't know the trick to make the car recognize again the IR remote on the key.
