Hearing engine noise on FM
I'm hearing engine noise on my FM signal which wasn't there previously. I have a 2001 CLK55 with a Bose system (Audio 10 head unit). Any suggestions on why or how to correct this? Someone mentioned I should look at the grounding of the amplifier. Is this something I can do myself? I don't know exactly where this would be other than in the trunk.

You don't describe the noise, but if it is a whine or pulse that follows increases and decreases in rpm, check the ground connections in your engine compartment (I do not know the specific locations of them in your car). Be sure they're not corroded.
Also, if you have changed your plugs or wires recently, and not used the proper specification replacements, that could cause the problem.

You're welcome.
I should have been a bit more specific. A whine that follows rpm would likely be from the alternator, and ground wires are the best bet for the source of the problem.
A pulse would be from spark plugs or spark plug wires, and would probably require replacement with the proper parts.
