Finished product

This is what the finished product looks like from the back.

I did not cut any traces in the tape deck at all for the sake of reversibility, so my deck still works 100%. The tape deck needs to be "tricked" into thinking it's playing a tape (ie both spools have to spin together), so I bought a cassette adapter and removed everything other than the gearing between the spools.

Final Verdict

Just gave the unit a test run. Definitely more clear than using a tape adapter, and slightly louder as well. Also, the L/R channels are even in terms of volume. Back then, my system would always play R louder than L using a tape adapter unless I opened the door and jiggled the cartridge every once in a while.

Recommended mod. Next step: 12V + USB plugs hardwired into the tray.

05 models are prewired with aux inputs in the glove box. you'll need to buy a $60 adapter from the dealer and install it yourself.

What we need to made with the Ground part of the RCA wires? ground them to the Radio metal chasis?

Pretty cool, someone try this mode on the Audio 10, Becker Special & Becker Exquisite units (W210, W208, W129, W168 & W163)?

the connector hole is in the glove box but the plug is underneath the door sil. look for a circle outline on the right of the upper glove box shelf where the CD changer is. you'll need to pry out the glove box covers and foot well and door sil panels to connect the plug. i don't remember the part #... someone posted it in another thread.

The PN: 210-440-50-05 $33.62 MB dealer Houston TX.(wholesale price) i installed today without a problem. FYI for others, I couldn't find the cable cheaper anywhere else and it was the only 1 they had. @ the dealer it cost $41 + Tax.

Pictures on how to install it can B found on DIY - setting up the AUX input for iPod, mp3 player, etc. - MBWorld.org Forums. that was PT1. PT 2 is run the cable through the middle console. BTY. do you know by chance where i can find PN 203-885-1753 cheaper. ($86 @ dealer wholesale) !ce again THNX to 20HFK02 for the help.

Mod on a Becker Audio 30 model BE 3302?

I'm trying to figure out how to do the iPod mod to my Becker Audio 30 Model BE 3302... it's a bit different than the Audio 10 model as far as I can tell - the tape deck module doesn't seem to be removeable, even after removing the screws - there's a 19 or 20 pin chip that is connected to the tape deck module that is soldered through the base circuit board.

Any one have any tips?

My head unit is out of what I believe is a 99 (it's a '00 model G500 that was imported to the US).

CLK 99 Cabriolet
Nice thread!I have also a BE3300 audio 30 in a 99 convertible clk. I took the unit out and opened it, but it is different than in the pics you show here. I attach some pics (later I will add other of an open unit). Also I found this link http://www.scribd.com/doc/24681298/B...am-User-Manual that shows the schematics of my unit.I think page 10 is the one that I need . If anyone could help me would be nice. Thank you!

I also have questions on the audio 30? i have on 01 clk 320 (w208). I have the tape mechanism out but the layout on the circuit board is different..looking at the pins above the ribbon, im assuming that the 1snt and 3rd pin from the left are pins 1 and 3..these i connect my rca cable to? if i wanted to keep the functioning of my tape player, how would i do that?

^ Those wires just carry a signal. Some people cut the traces to the motors but that is optional. I didn't want to kill my tape-playing ability, so I just took an old tape adapter (those cassettes with a headphone wire sticking out) and removed the electronics.

The other option is you can put in a blank tape, but you'll have a 2-3s silence each time the cassette switches sides.

What does NOT work is if you put in a cassette where you removed the magnetic tape. The deck checks to make sure both wheels are turning, and will return a "TAPE STUCK" error. I tried this first.

Hello,

I'm trying to do this mod on my Becker 6021, but it's kind of different, because this audio has the CD. I have a question similar to the previous one - Am I going to hear gaps each time the song is changed on the CD ?

P.S. There seems to be a nice guide about the aux mod by lovin_my_C230K. However, the url http://66.15.182.201/w203aux/ is not working anymore. Does anyone by any chance have the pictures?

Hi everyone,

I made the mod with a Audio 10 and it works. However I am having a low volume when connecting to an ipod. I do a search and found that people with MB Aux kit are having the same issue then MB correct it by putting an amplifier in.
Do you have any similar problem after doing this mod and how you fix it ? I am waiting for your solution before doing any futher.

^ Not sure about the Audio 10 but the Audio 30 is definitely somewhat softer. I just crank the volume on my mp3 player a few notches. No distortion at all.

Gentlemen... Thank you all so kindly for the info. I did this mod yesteday and I'm very proud of the outcome. One Odd problem though. I have a blackberry that I connected to the aux in. It sounds perfect even with the engine on but once I plug that BB to the power (lighter) I here the engine as if the ground is not in place as I press on the gas. Not sure if anyone encountered this problem or if its just a BB issue or what, but I would appreciate any brite ideas. Either way I just keep my BB charged before I get in the car and I have no problems so I'm content for now.

Again you are all Awsome. Thanks again. So far I'm 2 for 4 with the mods/ repairs I wanted to get done.

It's obviously a grounding issue. I had the same problem with a cheapo car adapter.. may I suggest my centre console USB mod. No problems with this method.
