Please help!! Retrofitting Comand APS?
Hello folks.
I had an Audio 20 original in my C-Class frome -2006. Then i baught an APS 50 on the Ebay. And retrofitted that one just with plug´n´play. It worked frome the vey beggining.
Now to my problem. I just baught an Comand aps the one with the big screen. When i was plugging this one in the only thing that happens is tahat the mercedes star comes on the screen. Then it turns of. I know some people hav problems with this and i may need to get a software or something to tell the car that it now has the comand. But the strange thing is that it worked without any problem with the APS 50?! Maybe the APS 50 is such an low tech version so it dosent need any programming to the car?
Please help me.

From what I understand, its actually the comand, and not your car, that needs the programming. When the comand powers up, it looks on the fibre ring for devices its expecting, like bluetooth, cd changer, etc.
If any devices are present in your car that were not there when the comand was in the old car, it will shut off. Similarly, if the old owner had a device that you don't have, it will also shut off.
This can be fixed by having the comand programmed, either by the dealer or anyone with a StarDiagnose.
