Need NAV dvdrom etc for 04 E500
I need the CD/DVD Rom for the Nav unit. I am trying to add the navigation system to my E500. It has the harmon kardon system, antenna. I dont know what else do i need? I had called the dealer and they were asking an arm and a leg for it....

Try a search on the W211 forum, you would find a very good guide with accurate photos etc. I guess some cost info too. It isn't cheap, unless you get used parts (Navigation processor mainly) cheap.

Nice to know if the unit you install has been updated with latest operating software. That's about $12 from a Mercedes dealer.
Once it has, just get the latest maps from Navteq.

Done it!
Hey Deelz, just did it myself on my 2004 E500 - works like a charm. Here is the link with the best help: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/100143-oem-navigation-retrofit-w-pics.html
This is for a 2005 model, so there a small differences: You don't need the MOST fiber adaptor and check with your dealer about your specific rear panel. Additionally look for the MOST setup sheet, I don't have the link, but I know I found it on this forum.
The parts you have to get new, but look for a used drive / Nav DVD. I paid about $400 for the drive that came with a 2004 DVD. Upgrade DVD's to the 2008 version are between $80-$150 (Call Derek @ (514) 945-1111).
Once you are done, it will work on the command, but to get it to work in the instrument cluster you have to have it programmed with STAR - have not done that yet.
PM me if you run into any problems.
