Question about bose

After reading so many postes about after market radios, i still dont understand how will it work.
Mi understanding the sound goes from the radio to the bose amp via optical & hard wire from the amp to speakers.
Can someone tell how is this possible with the harness that everyone talks about.
I woul like to upgrade a 208 radio that as the bose system.
A diagram of what wires get pluged in to the car wiring & what they are for would help.(what replaces the optical signal?
Thanks in advance.

I beleive the optical signal is for the optical ring accesories like the cd and phone, the radio sends signal to the amp via thin wires, i'm sill searching for the color codes for the headunit. if you find it send me a link to arturo_lantigua@hotmail.com
