2006 E500 4matic Wagon

1998 E320 4matic CD changer

I just purchased a 1998 E320 4matic. MBUSA, Carfax, VMI, etc., all specs on the particular vehicle list it with E1, E2, and K2. Has the analog phone (boo). Should have changer, right? Dealer is perplexed, knocked off $1k on the price.

I learned I can't swap the changer I have in my 2000 E430 4matic because of fiber optics and digital, or something to that effect (sorry, not so techno-savvy).

Any recs on an installer of a CD changer for the 1998 E320 4matic in the NY/NJ area? Dealer quoted me $900 on MB changer--is the brand name really necessary?

Since the car is pre-wired, I can have the changer integrated, so it works right off the radio, right?
