Bluetooth...Phonebook...Blah..Blah..Blah
I just picked up a 2009 CLS 550 with built in bluetooth (no cradle, no module required) Paired it to my Motorola E815 and paired up fine. No phonebook download or contact send features as I already knew.
Yet when I had it paired to my 2006 BMW 750Li the same way through bluetooth with no cradle, the first thing it would do is DOWNLOAD THE PHONEBOOK whenever I brought the phone to the car!
Apparently the information is in the bluetooth signal from the phone; what is the difference in the MB bluetooth technology that it cannot do what the 2006 BMW bluetooth can?

I believe the MB head unit expects BpAP bluetooth profile from the phone and your phone probably does not support it.
But can't you send your contacts over BT as visitor cards? Just set your head unit ready to receive visitor cards.
The BMW probably is using some older BT features that your phone supports. Unfortunately MB did not seem to select support for both modes.

Thanks Diesel Benz; I didn't realize there are various bluetooth profiles, I figured it was standardized. My phone is 3 yrs old and doesn't export contacts or cards.
