Wow That Service Tech Was EXTREMELY Helpful!
Me: Is there any way to find out what type of phone came with my Mercedes?
Them: What year is it?
Me: A 2002
Them: 2002? That would be an analog phone.
Me: What kind of analog phone?
Them: It's doesn't matter. They did away with analog phones several years ago.
Me: Is there anyway to make it work?
Them: Not that I'm aware of, no.
I mean all I wanted to know was what kind of phone originally came with my car so maybe I could buy a used one off ebay and stick a prepaid sim card in it for emergencies and the guy shuts me down.
Whatever,
Tom

According to AWS, you could use the (MB) BT cradle adapter and most current BT capable phones with it:

You car probably has IR reflective glasses which could be an issue at poor coverage areas.

He really has no way of telling what phone came in the car as everyone had different carriers. I think you were lucky to talk to a tech really most dealer techs do not take any phone calls. What does your car have in it now dangling from your center console? You can get a bluetooth phone system in your car for sure and you can still use the Verizon V60S as it was a digital revision if you want an old school phone, but with any other V60 phone the carriers will not allow the phones to be activated as it's illegal for them to do so. I am not really sure what it would have to do with emergency dialing though you can do that with any phone that's not associated with the vehicles phone system. I think I am missing the ATT/Cingular version phone from my list. If you have a Blue lable PSE you can get a V60 Eliminator cable and hook up a bluetooth puck and use just about any phone you need. I will attach a picture of the pse it's located in your trunk behind the carpet I believe on the left hand side byt he wheel.
