Audio 10 programming Becker vs. Alpine got it figured out!
I contacted Becker, Germany. Their response was that units with model numbers starting with MF are not theirs. Beckers start with BE. I conclude that my unit is an Alpine. I had the car at the dealer yesterday and asked the tech if he knew how to get into test mode with the radio. He tried the Alpine protocol and it worked, at least he figured it out. The radio is now on NA standards. Whew! Tech was gone when I picked up the car so didn't get to ask him how to do it.
